So... There you have it. WHEW!

we left off at April 28th. Poem in Your Pocket Day

My friend Kim left a comment with this poem:

Love Sonnet XVII by Pablo Neruda

"I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep."

I like it!

May 1st was national Scrapbooking Day, School Principal's Day, Stepmother's Day, Tuba Day, Free Comic Book Day, Lei Day, Loyalty Day, Mother Goose Day, Amtrak Day, The Kentucky Derby, May Day, national Homebrew Day, and Space Day

I was working our garage sale all day so I didn't actively celebrate any of those days, but let's see... I'm a scrapbooker, a school principal, a stepmother, I'm loyal, I love mother goose, and I married a man who makes his own wine. Does any of that count??

Right now we have peach wine and grape wine and hopefully soon we will make strawberry and apple. YUM! Who wants to come drink a glass of wine with me on the porch on the farm?

May 2nd was national Play Your Ukelele Day, and World Laughter Day

You aren't going to believe this... but I actually have a ukelele. My dad bought it for me for some gift giving occasion... with a book on learning to play the ukelele. Well, I never did learn to play it... but I also never got rid of it, and I know exactly where it is in the basement. Awwwww. Thanks, Dad.

Today, May 3rd was Garden Meditation Day, Lumpy Rug Day, and national Two Different Colored Shoes Day

I celebrated by getting out in our garden and putting in the cages that will support my tomato plants.

Hey... you like my garden row marker?

my corn is coming up... and tonight I noticed my green beans are coming up!! I'm SO excited!

Tomorrow is national Teacher's Day, Star Wars Day, and Respect For Chickens Day... Which I'm excited about, cause looksie what I got yesterday!!:

  1. You are quite the farm gal. Doesn't community living have to do with the mentally handicapped?
